Colonel offer Lincoln to drink with him and Lincoln said “no”. So then someone went and visit them. Colonel said you want a cigarette and Lincoln said ok but let me tell you something I have made a promise with his mom since she die that  that wouldn't drink or smoke. So then colonel said I would love to make that promise with my mom. The two temptations were smoking and drinking. Do you do what you say you will do?

I think that I wouldn't if it was something negative but if something positive than why not.
